New feature: Stalker buster or Know who loves you?

October 3, 2005

Wow, friendster really listened to it’s people something that most will not do. They went on and upgraded the features of friendster including a community board that checks who added new stuff their pages. One significant new feature is being able to track who viewed your profile obviously we know what it’s for. A lot people think negatively about it and let explain that it’s actually a good thing.

One of friendster’s main competition and still my favorite social network is Multiply which great at loading and sharing stuff pretty much works more like a website than a social tool. One of the major strengths of multiply is being able to track down who viewed your pages, so with the saying “imitation is the best form of flattery” so did friendster.

Now the major argument here is that is it a form of finding out a stalker or not? I think it’s more of a cultural thing, personally I like it when people view my pages, I get to see who’s interested and (with my friends) who loves me. The feature goes hand in hand with the update feature which checks who added something to their profile which is the way to go. My cousins and I were discussing about the feature and though some didn’t agree they were able to see the good side. You know “sabagay”.

There is a downside to it though such as being stalked by an old boyfriend or girlfriend sourgraping over whatever and still checking what’s up with you instead of moving on. Same goes if you are the one who is bitter I have to admit I do check past flings.

Pretty much that’s it. I gave some of the good points let me give some more, it tells you who viewed your profile giving you the edge of finding out who stole your pictures like what happened to my friend a few weeks earlier. Some person copied all her pix and created a profile with all those pix under a different name.

It’s nice to be checked and I liked that feature, great way to meet friends, I just hope that friendster takes out the 500 friend limit. But I have to make do for now, I still say that Multiply is the best but friendster came first and laziness prevents us from trying out multiply social networks.

Have not tried using Multiply yet but viewed the site just now, interesting…looking for other sites, other than Friendster, to utilize solely for networking purposes…into LinkedIn, at present
